Client: Val Kilmer/Knowawall
Project: Val Kilmer personal website

Background: Legendary actor Val Kilmer approached Knowawall design & development studio to produce a new website that would fit his body of work and serve as a communications platform for upcoming projects.

Execution: Urgent built the site using a suite of tools becoming more common in the web development workflow. The project was kicked off using HTML5 Boilerplate and we chose ExpressionEngine as a CMS.

Digital Brand Consulting – GIRLS

Client: HBO
Project: Social media management and brand awareness

Background: The HBO team planned a bike share in Austin but didn’t know how to extend their promotion into the digital space. With a little outside of the box thinking we were able to enhance the bike share using Twitter to give the attendees locations to ride the bikes and something to talk about.

Execution: We partnered with local Austin vendors to create a social media “scavenger hunt” and give away free food and drinks to festival attendees who followed @girlsHBO on Twitter.

The social media “scavenger hunt” reached over 4,033,466 individuals over 5 days making it the fastest growing HBO twitter handle to date.

Aside from the amount of twitter followers raised during the activation, what is even more impressive is the quality of the tweets and engagement from the community. Participants were vocal about how much they enjoyed the activation and their eagerness for the premier.

Digital Brand Consulting – NYU Shanghai

Client: NYU
Project: Website Design and Brand Development

Background: NYU Shanghai was gearing up to start accepting its inaugural class of students, but at that time only a temporary website with provisional information existed. To truly present itself as an innovative university for students looking for a global education, NYU needed a website and materials that presented the college experience as fresh and approachable while maintaining the status of an international academic institution.

Execution: We spent about 5 months redesigning and building a new website. Launching at the end of October, it includes private servers, a custom configuration of a pre-built CMS (Expression Engine), and administrative training.

YouTube – HBO x Jackthreads

Client: HBO x Jackthreads (cross-promotion)
Project:  How to Make It in America Season 2

Background: To prepare for season 2 of “How to Make It in America”, HBO wanted to grow its audience with influential “downtown-types” who are portrayed on the show. The show’s storylines revolved around this world, but they needed an extra push to get this demographic engage with the show.

Execution: Urgent mapped out a cross-promotional strategy across YouTube, social media, and targeted online communities. Three influential brands in the downtown fashion space created a unique piece inspired by How to Make It in America, which was sold to a targeted audience of fashion followers.

We produced branded video collateral on each designer which was distributed on YouTube to blogs, media partners, and HBO properties. The above content piece profiles Мишка (Mishka NYC), founded by two guys whose personal stories closely parallel the show’s story of two guys with a vision who are willing to sacrifice everything to make it happen.
